Eddy Tan is Channel [V] VP, programming

MUMBAI: Pan-Asian broadcaster Star has appointed Eddy Tan as VP (programming) of Channel [V]. Based in Hong Kong, Tan will officially join on 31 March and report to Star Entertainment president Todd Lituchy. In his new role, Tan will oversee the programming development of Channel [V] International, while also working with other Channel [V] properties in Asia on cross-channel initiatives including concerts, events and acquisitions.

Sun TVs SFM to launch in Allahabad, Jabalpur

MUMBAI: Sun TV Network, through its subsidiary South Asia FM, is launching two FM stations under the brand name SFM. SFM is launching in Allahabad on 18 March and on 19 March in Jabalpur. This will take the total number of Sun's stations to 27 across the country. SFM already operates in Chennai, Coimbatore, Tirunelveli, Visakhapatnam, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Bhubaneswar, Tirupati, Madurai, Tuticorin, Lucknow, Bhopal, Pondicherry, Kozhilkode, Indore, Vijayawada, Varanasi, Tiruchy, Rajahmundry, Kanpur, Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur, Mangalore and Kannur.

Jadavpur Univ's community radio to launch in April

MUMBAI: The latest to join the community radio bandwagon is Kolkata's Jadavpur University. Radio JU 90.8 will go on air on the Bengali New Year day on 14 April 2008.Director of School of Media Communication Nilanjana Gupta says, "The station would have slots for schoolchildren, physically challenged persons and youths." Renowned percussionist Bikram Ghosh has composed the one minute signature tune of the station consisting of both classical and folk music.
